School Safety Monitor Privacy Policy.

How the School Safety Monitor browser extension by E-2 Unlimited Technologies collects, uses, and protects student information on school-managed devices.

Effective Date: October 29, 2026

School Safety Monitor ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension provided by E-2 Unlimited Technologies, Inc. ("E-2," "we," "our," or "us") to schools and school districts ("Schools") to help them identify student safety concerns, such as signs of self-harm, bullying, or threats of violence. We take student privacy seriously. This policy explains what the Extension collects, how it is used and protected, and how Schools, students, and families can request access or deletion.

The Extension is installed by a School's IT administrator on school-managed Chrome browsers and Chromebooks. It is not intended for personal or home use.

1. What Data We Collect

We collect only the information needed to provide student safety monitoring to the School. On browsers where the Extension is installed, it collects:

  • Account information: the email address and account ID of the Chrome profile signed in to the browser (typically the student's school account)
  • Browsing activity: titles and addresses (URLs) of web pages visited, when tabs are opened, switched, and closed, and time spent on each tab
  • Text entered into web pages: text typed or pasted into text fields, text areas, and web-based editors (for example, documents, email, chat, and search boxes), which may include personal communications or other sensitive information a student chooses to type
  • Form selections: values chosen in web forms and the names (not contents) of files selected for upload
  • Technical identifiers: randomly generated installation, session, and tab identifiers used to organize records

The Extension does not collect:

  • Passwords or the contents of password fields
  • The contents of files selected for upload
  • Activity in incognito windows, unless the School's administrator enables the Extension there
  • Device location

2. How We Use Data

Data collected by the Extension is used solely to provide the School Safety Monitor service to the School, including enabling authorized School staff to review student activity for safety concerns, and to maintain, secure, and troubleshoot the service.

3. What We Don't Do

We never sell or rent student data, and we do not share it with advertisers, marketers, or data brokers. We do not use student data for advertising, behavioral profiling, or any purpose unrelated to student safety monitoring. We do not use student data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.

4. Who Can See the Data

Student data is available only to authorized staff designated by the School and to E-2 personnel who need access to operate, support, or secure the service. We use Amazon Web Services (AWS) in the United States to host and process data on our behalf; AWS is bound by its own security and confidentiality obligations. We may disclose data if required by law.

5. Schools and Student Privacy Laws

  • School control: The School decides whether to deploy the Extension and controls the student data it collects. E-2 processes that data on the School's behalf.
  • FERPA (U.S.): Where student data is part of an education record, E-2 acts as a "school official" under the School's direct control and uses the data only for the purposes authorized by the School.
  • COPPA (U.S.): Where students are under 13, the School provides consent on behalf of parents for this educational use, as permitted by COPPA.

Schools are responsible for informing students and families that school devices are monitored, in line with their own policies.

6. Data Storage & Security

Data is transmitted from the Extension over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and stored in an encrypted database in a private network that is not accessible from the public internet. Access is limited to authorized personnel. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we maintain reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect student data.

7. Data Retention & Deletion

We retain student data only for as long as needed to provide the service to the School or as required by our agreement with the School. When a School's agreement ends, or when a School requests deletion, we delete that School's student data, unless we are legally required to retain it for a limited time.

Students and parents who wish to review or delete their data should contact their School, which can submit the request to us. Schools may contact us directly using the Contact page.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes to the Extension or legal requirements. The Effective Date at the top of this page will be updated whenever material changes are made, and we will notify Schools of material changes.
